Dog Training Holidays

Stay with your dog on the beautiful Scottish Island of Lismore

2dogsinwater.jpgRelax, soak in the tranquillity and just breathe! Meanwhile, re-connect with your dog without all the distractions that modern life can bring.

You can brush up on recall, nail your loose-lead walking, learn a whole set of new tricks or fine-tune responses to old triggers. Or all of the above, if you so desire.

Training Holidays are for individual dogs and their humans (or two dogs from the same family). This means we can personalise the learning experience and work at the pace that suits you both.

The taught component is either 3 or 5 days in length*, with 1.5 hours 1:1 tuition each morning. Learning happens either in our enclosed training field or indoor classroom, depending on your dog’s needs (and the weather, of course!) Afterwards, you'll have plenty of time to relax and explore the island and all it has to offer – or just hang out with your dog.

Packages on offer include:

Loose Lead Walking

Do you wish your on-lead walks didn’t feel like such a battle of wills? Focussing on training and skill-building at both ends of the lead, you’ll leave with the tools to bring harmony back to your walks.

Come Back! – Enhanced Recall

Tired of feeling like you’re talking to yourself when your dog finds something ‘more interesting’ to sniff?! Games, activities and strategies to strengthen your dog’s response when called, including working with distractions.

Introduction to Scentwork

Scentwork is a fun activity for dogs of all breeds, tapping into their sniffing superpower. Some dogs consider it their life’s work, while others just relax into the ‘game’. Work together as a team with your dog as you learn about the foundations of active and passive searches with a variety of target odours.

Get to Know your Collie

You’ve probably noticed your collie is not the same as other dogs! Let’s unpack why your dog does some of the things he does and then embrace those traits rather than trying to undo them. You’ll learn some fun games and activities designed to give a controlled outlet for those innate behaviours.

Become a Confident Trickster – Teach your Dog New Tricks

Want to be more popular at parties?! Trick training is a great way to build communication and engagement with your dog. You select which tricks you want to focus on – and you will also leave with the blueprint for getting started with any trick.

Dealing with Reactivity – (Dog to Dog) Level 1

Do you find yourself hiding in bushes or walking late at night to avoid other dog walkers? Does your pooch turn into a Tasmanian devil at the sight of other dogs? Learn how to help your dog make different behaviour choices while developing your own handling skill set in a relaxed environment. You’ll leave with a clear protocol for how to continue your dog’s training journey and how you might apply that in your own setting.

Dealing with Reactivity – (Dog to Dog) Level 2

Build upon your repertoire of games, activities and strategies to further enhance your dog’s behaviour choices and emotional control in the presence of other dogs. Participants must have attended a Level 1 course or worked with me 1:1 previously.

Multi-activity Holiday

Maybe you can’t decide, or you just want some fun with your dog. Come on a multi-activity holiday and have taster sessions of a variety of activities. Examples include Scentwork, trick training, agility, enrichment activities.

Accommodation Options

You can choose to stay onsite in our cosy, dog-friendly, off-grid bothy (self-catering, sleeps 4) or a short drive away in the modern studio (self-catering, sleeps 2) and pay one price for the whole package.  Or you can arrange your own accommodation and pay for tuition only.

Let’s Talk

Training Holidays only run from April to October and dates are limited, but if this sounds like just what you’ve been waiting for Contact me now to arrange a ‘no-obligations’ call. It’s important it’s a good fit for your dog’s needs!

 *Disclaimer:
You choose course length, but please note a 3-day package will have less content than a 5-day course (I don’t just cram it all in!)
Whilst you will definitely see some changes, your dog will not be ‘fixed’ by the end of your stay. You will however go away with lots of practical training activities and protocols to continue your dog’s learning journey at home.
